Weekly Journal - Week 6
General Notes
This last week was pitch week. I spent a lot of time refining two of my favorite and most stand out features to be included in the presentation. Permadeath and the branching storyline. The Permadeath system is made so that any and all characters are ultimately disposable, but different combinations would be required to achieve the variety of endings to the game. Because the motivations for each character varies greatly and may not always result in the same ending, some characters being alive can change the entire course of the story.
Think, for instance, about a character in another game that may leave your party once completing their goals. What if they were the one in charge of the entire party now? Likely, the story would just end at that point instead of continuing on!
Progress Notes
I spent a lot of time working on the script and visuals for the presentation. My goal was to make it look really nice and present the information in a visual way. I absolutely hate it when I see a presentation where the presenter just reads their slides. In those cases, I feel like I'd rather just have them emailed to me so I can go over them at my own pace.
I ended up needing to rerecord my video several times as I kept going "off script" and not making a lot of sense. My final take was still off script, but at least cohesive! I'll need to refine the script and make it more natural sounding so it's easier to stick to for the final version.
What's happening next week?
Working on applying the feedback given to me that makes sense for my project, and refining my pitch. Once I've refined the pitch, I can work on recording the final version of the pitch!
